Fast renewals for Fox faves: Hollywoodreporter.com: "Fox has given early pickups for next season to four series: freshman teen soap 'The O.C.,' real-time drama '24' and the comedies 'Malcolm in the Middle' and 'The Bernie Mac Show.' The network also has renewed late-night sketch comedy show 'Mad TV,' now in its ninth season, for three more years. 'The O.C.,' '24,' 'Malcolm' and 'Bernie Mac' received full-season orders -- 24 episodes in the case of '24' and 22 for the others. The network has an option to pick up additional segments later, as it did with breakout hit 'The O.C.' earlier this season. Picking up the four series a month ahead of the network's unveiling of its fall lineup gives the shows a head start in locking up writing staffs and mapping out story lines for next season"
