Grosso case could be test of Calif. law
Grosso case could be test of Calif. law: "As Hollywood nervously awaits the Grokster decision, the U.S. Supreme Court has been petitioned to hear another potentially far-reaching copyright case. Miramax v. Grosso, which grew out of the alleged unauthorized use of Jeff Grosso's script 'The Shell Game,' could drive the high court to revisit the 1976 Copyright Act, state and federal jurisdiction over copyright cases and the notion of an implied contract. Attorneys for Miramax asked the Supreme Court to consider the case -- and a controversial ruling by the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals -- in a petition for writ of certiorari filed this week."
